Whew, the summer is getting hot, hot, hot! Time for a cool down. :)
So toward the end of my trip, I was contemplating what I wanted my first blog post after coming back should be. I was thinking about a massive photo post of trip highlights, with lots of food porn interspersed, but then, on my last day in San Francisco, I visited Bi-Rite Creamery, and I
knew what my destined post would be.
 |
| even their sign looks delicious. |
Bi-Rite Creamery is located in the Mission District in San Francisco. Before my trip, I went on a massive hunt for cute restaurants and eateries in San Francisco, and this small ice cream shop topped the list of places I most wanted to visit. I consider myself so very lucky that Mr. SB's brother (who we were staying with) lived very close to this adorable shop.
 |
| the long, long line. |
Maybe I live in too small of a city, but I have never had to wait in a line that went out of the door for ice cream. Especially in a line that went around the corner. But after having tasted the ice cream, I completely understand, for it is truly delicious. On a side note, I really like their "Queue up for ice cream here" sign.
 |
| finally inside. :) |
Arriving inside the shop was like stepping into ice cream heaven. The shop is somewhat small, but they use their space well and create a very comfortable and friendly vibe. The left side of the shop is lined with bags of cookies, with their own ice cream recipe book showcased in the middle. On the opposite side is rows of refrigerated drinks as well as a small hallway that leads to a room with square tables and chairs. And showcased in the middle is, of course, the ice cream.
 |
| I have a soft spot for hand-written menus. |
Everything on their menu looked so good (like their Afternoon Snack Sundae, which consists of roasted banana ice cream, their own graham crackers, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. Mmm). Part of me really wanted one of their ice cream sandwiches, but I figured since this is my first visit, I should try to keep it simple and sample as many flavors as possible. So I went with their Double Size Cone. :)
 |
| cone & cup. first time trying that. |
Salted caramel, malted vanilla, and cookies & cream. I was trying to go for all new flavors, but I could not turn away from one of my all-time favorites: cookies & cream. The salted caramel was yummier than I thought it would be. I'm kind of craving it again now.
 |
| salted caramel, malted vanilla, and balsamic strawberry. the last one was so so good. |
Now I completely understand why Bi-Rite Creamery was the first result when I Googled "San Francisco Ice Cream." After a week of not having had my favorite treat, Bi-Rite's delicious ice cream satisfied my ice cream craving and then some. If you ever get the chance to go to San Francisco, or if you live there (lucky lucky!), go to this adorable shop and taste ice cream heaven! :)
Yum that looks so good! Cookies and cream is one of my favorites, but I had salted caramel once and loved it!

BALSAMIC STRAWBERRY?! Holy crap. That cone looks like the best thing ever, and I don't even typically even like regular ice cream all that much. Salted caramel has always been a top favorite for me too, sweet and salty! This was the perfect first post & welcome back!

Then Bi-Rite Creamery is perfect for you, for they serve no ordinary ice cream...but delicious, cravings-inducing, cracktastic ice cream. :)
