Lovely Things No. 3

August 26, 2012

Ah, it's been a few weeks since I did a Lovely Things post, so I have lots to share!  :)

I can be somewhat picky when it comes to clothes, but one style that I always adore are knits featuring an animal, like this Asos sweater:

Analogue Life released these three elegant and classically Japanese soba choko, which are tableware that is traditionally used when eating soba noodles:

blue & white <3
Ferdi Rizkiyanto made this creative and delightful advertisement to help stop global warming:
of course i will turn off my lights for penguins!
Business cards are frequently dull and dreary ( though the men of American Psycho may disagree... ), but these by the Great Catering Co. are anything but.

Lisa Congdon is currently working on a 365 Days project, involving hand lettering.  I think I want to save all of them:
i want to write this on my window.

It's back to school season, and I can't imagine a cuter backpack to walk around campus with than this salmon ( what a descriptive color! ) Hershel bag:

I love kids, but because I don't feel like becoming a balloon nor have the means to raise one yet, I make do by looking at many, many pictures...and these lifestyle photos by Osamu Yokonami are fast becoming my favorites:

Piggie banks never really appealed to me.  Aesthetically, I wasn't the biggest fan of them, but also conceptually.  After all, a pig can only hold so much change, and I was an ambitious girl.  Thus, this Kate Spade Elephant Bank is perfect:

Joanne Young's pencil and ink illustrations feel dreamy and ephemeral:

Heehee.  Our Workshop's Salt Bird made me giggle:

With the summer winding down, that means collegiate life is starting up again, so Mr. SB and I had an impromptu picnic a few days ago.  Thankfully, the weather was kind to us with serene blue skies and fluffy clouds:
reminds me of a baby dragon. do you see its wing? :)
is it odd that i think of an elephant's butt when i look at this cloud?
Wishing everyone a splendid Sunday and a beautiful start of the week!

  5. Ohhhh....I want that salmon backpack! Unfortunately I tend to put my bags everywhere and they get dirty right away so this color might not be a good idea. But its so purty and the polka dotted lining, I want! :)

Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I work at the schools and we just had our first week and it was so hard to get back to the swing of things.

and sorry Xixia I totally missed your question about Zipia! I used to love it a few years ago, but nowadays I don't think their stock is as special as it used to be, or maybe I'm just discovering more and more online stores. Also there is a $300 usd minimum so it's advisable to get a few friends with you to do a group order. let me know if you make an order :)

  40. Hey, Xixia! Yup, it is a giant chess set in the park! How amazing, right? Made me want to try it out... although my skills are nonexistent. Oh, and I have a question - do you play chess? Because if you do, I was wondering if I could ask you something about it. If you don't it's fine too! [:

The Peter Pan words came from an Eisley song called Brightly Wound. It's the sort of stuff that makes your ears melt in pleasure, haha!

Those watercolour name cards are so beautiful. Wow.

    1. Hello Angelyn! Woah, that is so cool - reminds me of the Pixar short for some reason. And yes, I do play chess! ...though I'm not very good. XD

    2. Ooh, what is the Pixar short? I don't think I've heard of it, hm. Quite out of the loop. :/

Well, that's alright! Might you understand what is the purpose and the strategy behind castling? (It's okay if it's too hard to explain or if you don't use it.)

    3. It's called Geri's Game? There's not a massive chess board, but whenever I think chess, for some reason, I think of that old man with his glasses, playing that chess game with himself. XD
And hmmm...I am not too sure? I've only seen it used once or twice in the few times I've played chess, and it seems to only be used early on in the game. Makes the king better protected, rather than smackdab in the middle of the board. At least, that's my take on it. x
