The Boyfriend Award.

August 14, 2012

Recently, I had the honor of being featured on the lovely Danielle Wu's blog, as part of her "Liebster Blog Award" post.  I was lucky enough to also be tagged for this award by Tina ( of 2 Petite ).
Oh gosh, it is quite a description, and not one I entirely deserve, thus I am all the more grateful to be a part of it.  Out of curiosity, I looked up "liebster" online, and found that the most prominent meaning for this German word is boyfriend / sweetheart / darling.  That definition made me giggle, and now I can only think of this wonderful award as the Boyfriend award. :)

Without further ado, here are some tidbits about me, courtesy of Danielle's questions :

1. What is your dream job?  A software engineer at Google ( I can't even explain how much I adore this company ).  Specifically, I'd love to lead a project in their Search department or spearhead a new branch of this quickly expanding company.  This is mostly wishful thinking. ^^;
i was lucky to visit the google office in manhattan. they play with legos there. :)
2. What would you do if you had 24 hours to live?
"At the end of the world / we'll be together, be together. / If I can spend it with you / then the end of the world don't matter."

sings Lenka in her song, "The End of the World." I can't think of a better way of spending my last day other than surrounded by loved ones - both family and friends - and sharing a home-made dinner, with plenty of ice cream and casual banter.  Oh, and to see penguins.

3. Which magical ability / superpower would you choose, if you had to choose one?  Oh gosh...this question tormented my youth ( and even my daydreams today ).  Honestly, I'd love to be able to communicate with all the animals, à la Dr. Doolittle.  They must have such interesting stories and thoughts to share.
book.
4. Who is your favorite celebrity crush?  He's over the top, snarky, and obnoxious.  He can be controversial, self-detrimental, and a fake ( his words ).  Sometimes I question why I like him so, but then I remember.  His spirit, his charisma, and his determination.  He astounds me.
gotta love his humor. photo.
5. What is one thing you would change about the world you live in?  For everyone to be more empathetic, more understanding, of others.  I'm a big supporter in change starting from each individual, and I believe so many horrors of reality, like murder, starvation, poverty, could be alleviated if we just cared a little bit more about one another.
this moment in the olympics made me tear up a little. photo.
6. Black or white?  I can't see one existing without the other.  Yin and yang, they belong together.  It feels wrong to single one out.  I apologize for this cop-out answer.
tui and la from avatar: the last airbender. a wonderful show.
7. Where would you honeymoon?  Florence, Italy.  I love that it's situated in the rolling hills of Tuscany, filled with beautiful art and fantastic food.  It's idyllic.
photo.
8. What is your favorite time of day?  Coming home, whether that be from work at ~5PM or from classes, whenever that may be.  Nothing feels better than returning to my safe haven.

9. What is your favorite season?  Autumn.  All the warm, vibrant colors just fill me with such joy.  While it may mean winter is coming ( Stark words (: ), it is the season of harvest, of plentifulness.
photo.
10. Who do you admire most?  My mother.  She is larger than life and the strongest person I know.  I hope to have inherited at least a tenth of her strength and drive.
beautiful and filled with passion. i admire her endlessly.
11. What is your favorite movie?  Up.  This film made me a sobbing mess in one minute, then transformed that to a laughing, hiccuping, but just as much of a mess, the next minute.  Carl and Ellie's love story required no words, and for that reason, it was perfect.

At this point, I was instructed by Danielle to tag 11 others, but because I can be horrendously indecisive, I opted for just tagging 3.

A Miusmie is a wonderful blog written by Rooth.  It is filled with snippets of her life, told to us with enchanting words and anecdotes that are sure to make you smile.  Oh, did I mention that she's an avid book-reader?  :)

Fashion and Tea is where Stephanie serves up entrées of delightful outfits accompanied by beautiful pictures ( lots of which are of food, yum! ).

FAIIINT is one of the first blogs I stumbled upon in my initial foray into blogging, and if you haven't been yet, do check it out!  There are beautiful and edgy outfits aplenty, with sides of gorgeous illustrations and inspiration posts.

To these three beautiful bloggers, I convey these instructions:
  • Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
  • Answer the questions the tagger has set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer. My questions for you are:
    • Who is your favorite celebrity?
    • What is your favorite quote?
    • What is a pet peeve of yours?
    • Sunlight or moonlight?
    • What is your favorite movie?
    • What could you eat everyday and love it?
    • Modern or vintage?
    • What is your guilty pleasure novel?
    • Who is your favorite cartoon character?
    • What wardrobe item can't you live without?
    • World Cup or Olympics?
  • Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
  • Go to their page and tell them.
  • Remember, no tag backs!
Whew, fini!  This was such fun; I hope you enjoyed reading it. :)

  11. Aww, this post was really sweet! Your mom is BEAUTIFUL! Just like you! Isn't Google awesome! I've never visited, but they did a documentary on tv and I thought it was a wonderful place to work. UP made me cry a lot too! I love that movie. So much meaning. I'm like you, I wish people would treat one another better. There's enough resources on this earth for everyone to share. No one should be without a home, food, etc. Man has put a price on everything unfortunately.
