Makeover.

January 9, 2013

First step in making good on my new year's (blog) resolutions = completed.

For anyone with any experience with Korean dramas: you know that point in the show, where the primary female who is usually seen as "plain" (though plain in drama-land translates to absolutely gorgeous in reality) has this sort of magical makeover that causes the male lead's jaw to drop and eyes to widen?

I feel like I just gave my blog this kind of drama-moment, with this new layout. After making my ink template a few weeks ago, I admit to being somewhat addicted to layouts sans the sidebar, so the posts & photos completely dominate the page. All of the information that is usually in the sidebar are located at the top of the page, underneath the header. If you have any suggestions or if there's any changes you absolutely hate, please let me know! I don't want this makeover to be a step in the wrong direction (like Go Eun-Chan's first one in the drama).

I hope you find this new layout to be a refreshing and positive change, one that makes your reading experience a little bit better. :)

  1. I really like the clean layout! :D

I think the way follower tab is genius too, mind if I borrow it from you?

I don't know if it's my pc, but did you intend to have a drop down menu below categories? Because I see none!

  4. Oh I do like this new makeover - it does make your blog look lovely. It's like in She's All That when Rachael Leigh Cook took off her glasses

  6. I love the new layout! And haha, love the reference to dramas and their "big reveal" of primary female. More like having the stars go from "pretty" to "prettier" :P

    1. hahah, so true. one thing i never understood about dramas was how the main female could be seen as "plain" or "unattractive." they're all just too gorgeous. x

  7. I love your new lay out c: It's
    refreshing! I think it's a trend
for the girls to be 'plain' in
drama's, to make it extra more
    dramatic :P

    (I got the background from
    Google template! It's free!)

    1. Thanks for letting me know so quickly, Mei! :)
And hahah, yeah, it must be. It's just so hard to believe tho, when the "plain" actresses are people like Yoon Eun-hye or Park Shin-hye. x

  8. Love the new layout! And I agree with Steph on the topic of leading ladies with makeovers on shows/movies. It's basically shorter to longer hair, glasses to no glasses or a new set of clothes.

    1. Oh, I think your blog looks lovely - it is bursting with your style and is truly adorable. For me, I made the drastic (and almost scary) decision of cutting out my sidebar entirely. XD
      And thank you! x

  11. I like the simplicity and how clean your new layout is! The little bit of purple is nice too. My only suggestion is perhaps a sans-serif font or a larger font size? I usually find serif fonts harder to read on computer screens. Looks great otherwise though :)

  12. I've been wanting to have a blog overhaul. Plain white with a wide enough width for my post and as minimalist as possible. However, I've yet to come out with a blog banner which would please me and I think sheer laziness is the reason as well. I know I would spend lots of time on it once I put my foot down and decide to go on with the blog makeover.

That said, I completely understand how you feel about your blog makeover and I like the clean minimalist feel of it. The font is a little small though but I think it could be just me getting old.

    1. I had so much fun doing this blog makeover, but it was somewhat frustrating as well. Let me know if you want any help designing or coding it when you get around to that! :)
And thanks so much for the suggestion! I'm definitely going to increase the font size. x

  16. You know what should become the new troupe in Korean dramas for 2013? The male getting a makeover (and thereby also covering the requisite shirtless male lead scene.) I haven't been able to comment recently, but the new layout looks lovely xx

  17. This is completely beside the point but I LOVED Coffee Prince. Had such a crush on the gong yoo + yoon eunhye pair back then.
And back to the point - lovely, uncluttered layout! :) contemplating a breakaway from the Blogger default for myself but sorely lacking time and knowledge in coding :/
