Did anyone watch the Golden Globe Awards over a week ago? Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were such charming and witty hosts, not to mention humorously snarky (their burn regarding James Cameron to Kathryn Bigelow? hahah ♥). I generally tune in for the actual awards' show and to hear the often hilarious speeches, but after it was finished, all I could think about was...a dress.

source.
Specifically, this dress. Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery wore new fashion designer Alexandre Vauthier's design, which was quite a change from the Diors', Chanels', and McQueens' on the red carpet. Is it unhealthy that even now, I still think back to this wonderfully classy and glamorous gown? With that shimmering gold offset by the modest cream? I can easily picture her Lady Mary character wearing this.

With this dress in mind, I started thinking about the next layout to start working on. My vision was something simple, with golden adornments sprinkled throughout.

There's still a number of aspects I'm not sure of, but with just a few additional tweaks (especially with the header and sidebar!), I think I'll be ready to start coding this soon.

Other award's show gowns that struck me:
1. kate hudson in mcqueen /// that collar and neckline are stunning.
2. anne hathaway in chanel /// such elegant peplum.
3. zhang ziyi in armani /// she looks so light and effervescent.
4. emma stone in giambattistavalli & vuitton /// i think i have a soft spot for high collars.
5. mila kunis in elie saab /// gorgeous in lilac and lace.

Do you have an award's show dress that has made a deep impression on you?

The blog design is nice, but maybe it's more for during the festive seasons? :]

  3. Oh my gosh, I almost didn't recognise Lady Mary! She looks absolutely radiant. I must admit at first glance the dress didn't really grab my attention but the more I looked the more enchanted I was. I guess that's the difference between style and fashion.

  6. I thought Tina and Any were great hosts, the best they have had in years! Michelle looked amazing, very futuristic in this gown. I like the idea of the gold accents in the design, looks so chic.

  7. That dress is gorgeous. I'm surprised this is the first time I've seen it. The Golden Globes albums I've seen so far don't have it.

I love the gold detailing- beautiful! I wish we could wear beautiful dresses like this :oD

I wasn't a big fan of Anne Hathaway's dress... I thought the whole look and styling made her look kind of old.

  13. I loved her dress too, I've been keeping an eye on Alexandre Vauthier for a while now, I think he's definitely going to be one to watch in the near future! Such beautiful craftsmanship!
One of my favourite dresses from the Globes was actually Lucy Liu's floral ballgown, not something I'd wear, but I think it suited her beautifully & really stole the show for me. I loved Jennifer Lawrence's Dior couture gown too.
